The late 2000's pretty much sucked for me. I lost my job at Tower Records, and I lost Mark. And one day, I was watching American Idol with my dad and mom, and mom walked off and while watching the show, I made a comment to dad, that Simon Cowell is one the worst things to happen to music, and that there is so much talent in the world that is overlooked and needed exposure. And when I finished, my dad said, "Tom, why don't you start a music promotions company. Focus on the music you love so much and help those people make money so they can spend more time making music."

I looked at him and started laughing and thinking inside, that is exactly what I am going to do, and on November 3, 2009, I launced tomsmusicplace.com. I have decided to dedicate the rest of my life to focusing on helping indepedent musicians find their audience. For way too long, the music industry has focused their marketing efforts to young adults and teenagers and I feel this needs to change and have a more mature approach. I want musicians to be able to make a livable wage doing what they love to do most and be able to focus on that.
